A Simple Yet Effective Method For Reaching The Lost
To Pastors & Churches,
Thank you for just a moment of your time. I believe you will find your attention is worth the short time it will take you to read this.
I would like to share a vision with you that God has given me. It is a vision of helping your church reach the lost and to grow in Christ.
As you know, most Christians will never go witnessing house to house or pass out tracks on the streets. Yet the church still has a job to do.
Within these few paragraphs, you will find a model that will inspire your congregation with a simple and yet effective method of evangelism.
This model has proven to be effective and with minimal effort on your congregations part.
In the chaotic day in which we live, with all the pressures of everyday life, many Christians do not have time for, nor interest in evangelism. This model will empower them to help you Pastor, move forward in evangelism.
Please read prayerfully. It is my prayer that we will be able to work together to build God’s kingdom.

Evangelism That Any Christian Can Do
In today’s church, few Christians are doing anything to fulfill the great commission. Though they have read the words of Christ “go into all the world”, most of those who are workers, resign their service to God within the four church walls. That is great for the church, but not for the lost.
Many pastors have a passion for the lost but cannot get their congregation involved in evangelism. Lack of spiritual growth in Christians, the fast-paced life of careers, family and other things all contribute to a lack of evangelism by the church.
In reality, most Christians will never go house to house or pass out tracks on the streets. Many do not feel that they are competent for such a task.
However, they can do something. We must learn to harness their potential. The bible teaches us that when people do not have a vision, they perish. Vision is what we all need, congregations included. They need a plan for reaching the lost that they can believe in. They need a vision that they can get involved with and get behind. They need a plan that “they” believe they can do.
Weekend Concert Crusades
A Weekend Concert Crusade with Tim Voorhies Ministries is an evangelistic event that the congregation can get involved in with minimum effort.
A Weekend Concert Crusade consists of three goals.
#1 To create vision and involvement by the church body in evangelism.
#2 To reach the unsaved and lead them to a decision for Christ.
#3 To reach church members with biblically based messages for practical Christian living.
Blue Print For Evangelism
How do we achieve these goals? We must have a plan. Every house must first have a blueprint. If we are going to build a successful evangelistic event, we must have a blueprint.
At first glance, this plan may appear too simplistic to work. But don’t allow its simplicity to undermine its power. This plan works when Gods people work the plan.
Short Explanation
The church will organize an event that features free food and a free concert (I will do the concert). The free dinner would occur on a Saturday afternoon just before the evening concert. The church body will give out flyers about the event to friends, family, neighbors, coworkers etc…. The unsaved will come for free food and a free concert. At the end of the concert I will preach a salvation message and give an alter call. In the Sunday morning and evening services, I will minister to the church body. I know it sounds simple but stick with me.
The Details
#1 -The Vision
The first thing we must utilize is the power of vision. When we give the church body a task they can perform and are comfortable with, they will get behind it. Giving them an evangelistic event they can get behind and support will create vision within them.
Their part is simply handing out flyers to people they know, family, friends, neighbors and coworkers. They do not have to go out on the streets and hand out flyers. Almost everyone knows someone that would come to this kind of event if invited.
It gives them something to work towards in building God’s kingdom without making too much of a demand upon them. If you place too much demand upon some Christians, you will lose their support and involvement.
Giving them a task that they can do in an evangelistic event will give them a sense of purpose and vision. They will “feel” like they are fulfilling the great commission and indeed they will be.
This is where the pastor comes in. The pastor must “sell” the vision to the people. This is a very important step. The people must know that they are playing a key role in fulfilling the great commission. They need to know that their efforts will indeed bring people to the event and to Jesus.
#2 -Prayer
The 2nd thing we must utilize is the power of prayer. This event is a great motivator for Gods people to come together and do what the bible says we are supposed to do, pray.
This kind of event can bring people together in ways nothing else will. Special appointed times of prayer focused on the lost coming to Jesus will foster growth and bonding among believers.
A Weekend Concert Crusade gives people a reason to come together and pray. It doesn’t matter if these prayer times are done at the church or if people meet in some ones home. The important thing is that the people feel a personal investment by their prayers.
By the time they are done passing out flyers and meeting together to pray, they have invested themselves in the evangelistic event. Therefore, two very important goals are reached by these prayer meetings. The path for souls to be saved in the Weekend Concert Crusade is being made by the prayers of the saints. Secondly, church members bond with each other and grow together in service to the Lord. It is a win/win situation.
#3 -Flyers
Why flyers? The bible says we are to be as wise as serpents. We know most sinners are not going to come to a regular church service. However, many of them will come to a free dinner and a free concert, especially when a friend, family member, coworker etc... have invited them.
In one church where they did this, there was standing room only. I have also seen this model work in outside events. One event had 250 in attendance and 25 came forward at the alter call. It may sound simple, but when you combine vision, prayer and wisdom to reach the lost, it creates a dynamo of power that will accomplish great things for Gods kingdom.
We will provide a flyer that you can copy. All you will have to do is fill out the type of free dinner, place, date and time. You may also create your own flyer. If you create your own flyer, you must stick to the basics already on our flyer, free food and a free concert etc…. Make hundreds of them. Have the church members give them to family, friends, neighbors and coworkers.
If you do have people willing to hit the streets, use their passion. People will come for free food and a free concert, even to a church.
It is important that you choose a specialty dinner. Pitch in dinners do not attract the public like a hog roast, barbecue, chili cook off etc…. Make it appealing to the public and they will come. It may sound like we are trying to bribe them to come to church for free food. But the reality is this, if we can use free food and music to bring them in, they will have an opportunity to hear the gospel and that is what we want. Even Jesus fed the multitudes.
If it is within your budget and you would like to use other means to advertise the event, newspapers radio etc…, feel free to do so. But do not substitute it for the flyers. The flyers give a personal investment to your church members, and that is important.
#4 -Sunday Services
The Sunday services are vital for the church body and the new converts. The people have worked hard to make this event happen. They have passed out flyers. They have spent a lot of time praying. They have invested their time, energy and themselves in fulfilling the great commission. Sunday is for them. In those services, I will teach and preach the Word of God to refresh and build them up. They have given out and Sunday is their time to receive.
Gods Plan
Some pastors just want me to come and do a concert for their people. That is fine in the right setting. But that is not God’s main calling on my life. My music is more evangelistic and works best in that setting. If I do a concert for a congregation I will try to gear the music towards them. But God’s vision and plan for my life is to have churches partner with me in these Weekend Concert Crusades to win the lost and help build up the saints.
Not only can we reach the lost, but also God has given me special messages to help Christians grow in the Lord. I never share any thing that would be controversial. My calling is to share messages for practical and victorious Christian living.
Often when I talk to Pastors about coming and holding a Weekend Concert Crusade at their church their response is “I will pray about it“. I understand what they mean.
But we do not need to pray about involving the church in evangelism, winning the lost and preaching the Gospel. This is what we are called to do. It is the great commission Christ gave to us. This is God’s perfect will and plan for every believer and every church. All we need to do is “arise and be doing and the Lord will be with us”.
It is my sincere prayer that you will prayerfully and thoughtfully consider the power of this model for reaching the lost.
